Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

APOD Explorer does not collect any personal data. The app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers of any kind, and its developer does not receive or store any information about you or your use of the app.

Data that stays on your device

Your settings and reading history are stored only on your device. AI-generated descriptions and translations are produced entirely on-device using Apple Intelligence and Apple's Translation framework; no text is ever sent to external servers.

Favorites and iCloud

If you mark pictures as favorites, they sync across your devices through the iCloud storage tied to your Apple Account. This data belongs to you: it is stored in your iCloud, protected by Apple, and the developer cannot access it.

Connection to the NASA API

To show the Astronomy Picture of the Day, the app (and its widgets) connect to NASA's public API (api.nasa.gov) and its image servers. As with any internet connection, NASA receives your IP address in order to respond to the request. APOD Explorer sends no other data in these requests. You can read NASA's privacy policy at nasa.gov/privacy.

Tips (in-app purchases)

Optional tips are processed entirely through Apple's App Store purchase system. The developer never receives or has access to your payment, card, or billing details; Apple handles the whole process under its own privacy policy.

Children

The app does not collect data from any user, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever changes how it handles data, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the "last updated" date will reflect it.
